RC is a new watchmaker in the market currently producing good quality replicas of the Rolex Day-Date with increased weight.
Many factories make increased weight versions of the Rolex Day-Date, and everyone has their own opinions about which is best.
Each factory claims their watches don’t have case peeling issues, but as a customer, you need to be careful. Some factories do have genuine case peeling problems.
Others charge high prices just for adding extra links to increase weight, but their watches still suffer from peeling. I’ve discussed this in detail in my previous articles, so be sure to ask your dealer for honest opinions before purchasing.
How is RC’s Day-Date quality?
-
Generally good, but since the watches have just been released, it’s too early to tell if they will have case peeling issues. More time and testing are needed.
Unlike some other factories:
-
RC does not add extra links to the bracelet to increase weight (unlike QF and THB latest V5 editions).
-
RC also does not increase the height of each bracelet link to add weight (unlike CBD).
So, how does RC increase the watch’s weight? Here’s what I found:
-
Extra weight is added to the case back, now weighing about 28.7 grams.
-
The movement retaining ring is wider, adding more weight (similar to what GM and QF do).
-
However, these two adjustments alone don’t reach the total weight of 209 grams, which matches the genuine Day-Date. The rest of the method remains unclear.
Advantages of RC Day-Date:
-
The gold tone is very nice and appears better than the gold color on Day-Date replicas from other makers.
-
RC claims their watches can be repeatedly gold-wrapped without issue—this still needs to be tested.
-
The sunburst finish on the dial is beautiful and a highlight of this model.
Shortcomings of RC Day-Date:
-
Burrs are visible on the edges of the hands when viewed under a magnifier.
-
The edge of the sapphire crystal is not as well finished as Clean’s Rolex replicas.
-
The font of the weekday indicator at 12 o’clock is slightly thinner than on the genuine watch.
-
The shape of the Rolex crown emblem’s base is slightly different from the original.
Overall, RC’s Day-Date shows promise with good gold tone and dial finishing but needs time to prove its durability and fix minor finishing details.
