This is the latest V3 version of the Daytona 116508 made by VS Factory which was released last month and I have just received it. Before the V3 VS released both a regular weight version and a V2 increased weight version. The V2 weighed about 160 grams while this V3 is heavier at 181 grams. In addition to the weight VS also made several other improvements. This Daytona is also produced by BT and ZF but neither is as good as this V3 from VS.
On the V2 VS increased the weight of the case. On this V3 some people claim VS added weight to the bracelet but I do not believe that is true. From what I know most of the extra weight comes from the case and the movement holder. The inner material of the case is most likely tungsten steel although VS has never confirmed this. Some factories add too much weight to the case back which makes the case thicker. With this V3 the case thickness is still 12 mm.
VS also improved the gold colour on this version. The tone is now very close to the 18K yellow gold of the genuine watch. The green dial has also been improved and no longer looks too bright. When the watch is tilted the sunburst finish shifts between green and a greenish gold tone. The solid centre shaft of the hands is also very close to that of the genuine model.
Another area where this VS version stands out is the engraving on the back of the lugs. Some factories use so much tungsten in the case that the engravings become blurry and poorly defined. On this V3 Daytona the lug engravings are sharp and clean especially the dog’s head hallmark. The finishing in this area is clearly better than on versions from other factories.
In conclusion this V3 Daytona from VS weighs 181 grams while the genuine watch is around 205 to 208 grams so there is still a difference of about 25 grams. Some other factories make heavier versions that exceed 210 grams but weight alone does not determine quality. The overall finishing and details on this VS Daytona are superior which is why I consider VS to be the best choice for this model.
On the picture above, this is a section of links I removed from a Day-Date made by some factory, the Day-Date and Daytona made by them have the heaviest weight, but the links on the bracelet are not good, you can clearly see the crack and the links are not fully plated with gold. You need to be very careful when choose a high-end replica Rolecks watch with increased weight.
