How to Sign Up for a Taobao Account & Avoid Getting Blocked

Step 1: Access the official Taobao website at www.taobao.com

Step 2: Translate Taobao: (1) Right click (2) Choose “Translate to English”

Step 3: Click “Register to receive red envelopes” to register.

Step 4: On the registration page, select “English” on the top right

Step 5: (1)Select your country dialing code and enter your phone number. (2)Click “Get verification code.”

Step 6.1: Slide The bar in the pop-up box from left to right until it turns all green.

Step 6.2: Once the bar is green, the verification code will be sent to your phone number.

Step 7: Add the code in this box and click “Agree and register.”

Step 8: Follow on-screen steps to create your Taobao username and password and click “Submit.”

Step 9: Once you hit “Submit,” you should see something like this.

Step 10: Congratulations! Your Taobao account is now ready.

Taobao app is in Chinese and has no in-app translation. The only way to translate the app content is to screenshot the page and use a translation app e.g. Google Translate to translate it. That’s why it is easier to sign up for a new account using a laptop or desktop. Nevertheless, here are the instructions.

Step 1: Search for the Taobao app on App Store or Play Store.

Step 2: Download the official Taobao app.

Step 3: Open the App

Step 4: The terms-conditions pop up will occur. Click the orange button to agree to the terms.

Step 5: You should see the App homepage.

Step 6: Click the smiley button on the bottom right corner to begin registration.

Step 7: Fill in your phone number to get the verification code.

Step 8.1: Slide the bar with your finger from left to right until it turns all green.

Step 8.2: Once it turns green, the code will be sent to your number. You will be asked to enter the4 digit code and the process is complete.

Usually, if you log in on your app, you won’t have to log in again until you log out. For desktop, you will be logged out after a while so you will have to log in again.

1. Do not sign up or sign in while using VPN.

2. Turn off the ads blocker app if you use one.

3. Avoid using multiple devices to access your Taobao account. For example, if you sign up for an account using your personal laptop, only use your personal laptop to access Taobao.

4. Log in to your account regularly. If you don’t use it for a long period of time, your account may be frozen.

5. Avoid logging into your Taobao through unsecured or public Wi-Fi networks like coffee shops or libraries.

If your account is blocked, it is almost impossible to get it back. You may try to contact Taobao customer service. Unfortunately, very few people are successful in getting their accounts unblocked. You will have to sign up for a new account with a new phone number. It’s better to avoid this from happening from the get-go. 1. Sign up with Taobao Lite App. Download the app and sign up again using Taobao Lite. Your new Taobao Lite account can be used in both the official Taobao app and the website.

2. Sign up for an Alipay account and verify your Alipay account. You can use your verified Alipay account to sign up for Taobao.

3. Turn off your VPN if you use one.

4. Turn off your ad-blocker

5. Clear your browser cache or history

6. Use a different browser

7. When Taobao or Alipay asks you to verify yourself, do it. If you don’t, your account may be frozen or blocked.
